Why are we loosing our Youth?

Statistics demonstrate that the church is loosing its youth. Anyone care to comment? I have my suspicions as well as plenty of observations; but if I share them people would think I am being prideful.

Church is losing Youth and members because

1. it serves its members and doesn't ask them to serve in return. We go to sunday schools and then home. No requirement to take what we learn and apply it to the needy in our neighborhoods. Society sees us go to church then come home and do little to make a difference in our communities. Of course churches are losing folks, they don't make an impact that is recognized by anyone.

2. church of Corinth, Ephesus, - they were known by their cities. Are we the church of Ipswich? No we're many little lone ranger churches in Ipswich. Ipswich doesn't see very much of what we do, and certainly doesn't see us working together.

thanks for thinking, and writing,

A question I might bring to the table is: Is it really the fault of the church that our children are falling away or does the blame really lie on the lap of the parents? I hear what you are saying and some of those things are valid. But I think that there is a deeper issue: we have violated the biblical commands as stated in Proverbs 22:6 and Deut 6:6-7. I plan on bringing some interesting stuff to this discussion over the next week that will hopefully cause us to really think through some things.
