Doctrine separates and joins together. To those who disagree it is controversial. To those who agree, there is no controversy. It makes friends; it separates and loses friends. It causes anger; it causes joy. At times I have felt alone and against the world; at other times I am shored up in my faith that I got it right. It causes persecution; it is the source of great reward. It separates families, but it fosters tight bonds that are not easily broken. It signifies an entrance into the deeper things of the Spirit; but to those who are spiritually immature it is disconcerting and confusing. However, even the mature believer relapses back into immaturity because he fails to grasp the freedom he has in Christ. I have been on both sides of this. It has been an interesting and challenging year!
