Baptism

A question has been raised by dear Baptist friends of ours that warrants me posting a blog on it. I want to do a bit of research on it before I get into a lengthy discussion on the subject (which would be a wise thing to do!) so this post will serve as what's up and coming. The question has to do with the doctrinal difference between credo-baptism or believers baptism and what I believe - paedobaptism or infant baptism. Of course I will defend paedobaptism since I am reformed Presbyterian. Tied into the practice of paedobaptism is our defense of covenant theology which we wholeheartedly embrace and love; for through and by it does both the Old and New Testaments find their seamless connection in the promises of God to his children.

By way of side note: These kinds of doctrinal disputes between reformed camps should never lead to separation. I cannot say that this is the case between Arminian and reformed however. Between reformed people we may just agree to disagree and yet continue to fellowship with one another because the foundation remains firm and sure. We still agree on the majors. But between Arminian and reformed it is another matter when meanings of words oftentimes stand in opposition to one another particularly as they relate to God's sovereignty and his grace. Yes we hold to the one true God and his Son Jesus Christ but unfortunately Jesus to the Wesleyan is not the same Jesus to the reformed. This is a strong statement, but by the time I am done with the 5 points of Calvinism it should (I hope) be seen why I consider this bold statement truth.
